من ضمن برنامج ورش العمل التي تنظمها مكتبة جامعة البحرين خلال الفصل الدراسي الثاني، وتحت إشراف الأستاذ الدكتور رياض يوسف حمزة رئيس الجامعة، نظمت مكتبة الجامعة بالتعاون مع كلية العلوم يوم الأثنين الموافق 5 مارس الجاري ورشة عمل بعنوان "طرق النشر في الدوريات العلمية". بقيادة Victoria Babbit، التي تشغل منصب مديرة تحرير الدوريات العلمية لدى دار النشر العالمية Taylor & Francis.
وقامت الأستاذة Victoria Babbit باستعراض أهم النقاط والمراحل التي تمر بها عملية نشر مقالة أو كتاب علمي. وتركز النقاش على مدى أهمية التزام المؤلف بالقواعد والتعليمات الخاصة بالناشر، مع ضرورة اختيار الدورية المناسبة للنشر فيها، ومراحل مراجعة المقالة بما فيها المراجعة التشاركية في المؤسسة نفسها للوصول إلى بحث علمي ذو مستوى عال يأتي بالجديد في موضوع البحث ويشرف المؤلف والمؤسسة التي ينتمي إليها. وحضر الورشة عدد هام من أعضاء الهيئة الأكاديمية والباحثين المنتسبين إلى جامعة البحرين. ويتواصل برنامج ورش العمل التي تنظمها مكتبة الجامعة خلال الفصل الدراسي الثاني، ليشمل عدد من الناشرين العالميين المرموقين بهدف فتح المجال أمام الباحثين بالجامعة للبروز على الساحة العالمية.
Publishing in academic journals
Under the patronage of HE Prof. Riyadh Yousif Hamza, President of the University of Bahrain, and in cooperation with the College of Science, the Central Library organized a Taylor & Francis, workshop titled “Publishing in academic journals” on Monday 5 March 2018. The workshop was delivered by Ms. Victoria Babbit, Editorial Director at Taylor & Francis.
The session focused on the importance of authors following the requirements specified by publishers, in terms of formatting and follow up regarding the various article revision stages prior to publishing. The discussion that ensued highlighted the importance of cooperative authorship and of involving fellow researchers in the field in reviewing the paper prior to sending it to the publisher, in order to achieve the highest quality paper possible.
This programme of workshops, organized by the UOB Library in cooperation with a number of publishers, continues throughout the second academic semester and will include more publishers including Oxford University Press, Emerald, and Elsevier.
